Uttarakhand Employment Service works within the framework of Employment Exchanges (Compulsory Notification Of Vacancies) Act 1959.
Day-to-day working of the Employment Exchanges in Uttarakhand is within the administrative control of Directorate Of Employment & Training, Govt. Of Uttarakhand.
The Directorate has a network of 24 Employment Exchanges (3 Regional EE , 10 District EE , 5 Town EE , 4 University EE , 1 Special EE for SC/ST and 1 Physically handicapped EE) in Uttarakhand State.The objectives of Employment Exchanges are :
As a part of Employment Market Information Programme data are collected from the Organized Sector (all public sector & all non-agricultural private establishments with 25 or more workers) on employment, vacancies, occupational & educational pattern of employees etc in ER-I & ER-II return prescribed under the Act.
The Directorate periodically organizes Rojgar Melas for employers in general & Rojgar Camps for specific employers in various Employment Exchanges.
EMPLOYMENT EXCHANGES (COMPULSORY NOTIFICATION
OF VACANCIES) ACT, 1959.
Provides for compulsory notification of vacancies and submission of employment returns (ER-I and ER-II) by employers to the Employment Exchanges.
It is mandatory for all employers in the Public Sector & Non agricultural Private Sector (having a total workforce of 25 or more) to notify Vacancies occuring in their establishment to the local Employment Exchange.
Enforcement of the Act is the responsibility of the States and Union Territories.
